Why is “Assalam Walakeum” used as a greeting in Islam?
The literal meaning of Assalam Walikum is – may you also remain safe and may Allah’s blessings and mercy continue to be upon you. this is the right way to say it As Salaamu Alaikum Is. According to tradition, whenever a Muslim person meets someone of his own religion or of another religion in his life, he should greet the other person by extending his hand and bowing his head. Greetings Has to be done. People have to say “Walekum Assalam” in response to Assalam Assalam.
How is Assalam Walikum said in different countries of the world?
Its expression is different in different countries of the world. Like in Arab countries like Saudi Arabia, Iran, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Turkey etc., after shaking hands, the balls are kissed two or three times and after that Assalam Valekum is said. In Pakistan, greeting involves shaking hands, which is one way of doing it. In Indonesia, two people usually shake hands after saluting. It is also used in the form of Salam, which we generally know as Khuda Hafiz or Allah Hafiz, which means – May God keep the person safe.
